Building Your Leadership Team

An Article By, Evan Leonard, President

I am a big believer in technology and these days even more so to innovate.  Everywhere we read how to automate responsibilities, customer service and manual labor.  Every tech company wants to create an application to disrupt an industry or tasks thinking that is the holy grail to reduce people.  Many studies show the work force is not going to shrink but jobs will be shifting.

Microsoft researchers build a bot that draws what you tell it to

Used with Permission from Microsoft AI Blog: An Article By, John Roach

If you’re handed a note that asks you to draw a picture of a bird with a yellow body, black wings and a short beak, chances are you’ll start with a rough outline of a bird, then glance back at the note, see the yellow part and reach for a yellow pen to fill in the body, read the note again and reach for a black pen to draw the wings and, after a final check, shorten the beak and define it with a reflective glint. Then, for good measure, you might sketch a tree branch where the bird rests.

A Fitbit, not an Apple Watch, was used in the Boston Red Sox cheating scandal

An Article By: Michael Sawh, Wearable.com

Remember the story from a few weeks ago that the Boston Red Sox used an Apple Watch to steal pitching signals from the Yankees? Well, it sounds like it was actually a Fitbit and not an Apple’s smartwatch at the centre of the cheating scandal.

That’s according to Nick Carfardo, baseball writer at the Boston Globe, who tweeted that a Major League source has revealed there was no Apple Watch involved in the Red Sox sign stealing. It was actually a Fitbit device.

Microsoft Overtakes Salesforce.com

An Article By: Wynand Roos, The CRM Team

Salesforce.com has led for decades. But things are now fading for them. Global agency Forrester recently put Microsoft ahead in Salesforce.com’s traditional stronghold: sales software[1]. This is a big coup for Microsoft who have been making gains in this area for a long time.

“Microsoft delivers on intelligent seller productivity.” – Forrester 2017 Q2 report

What should worry all Microsoft’s competitors: this latest Forrester Wave is based on Microsoft’s 2016 release. Wait until Forrester assesses Microsoft’s deep integration with LinkedIn – predicted to be a game-changer by many. The seamless flow between Outlook, Dynamics 365 and Sales Navigator (LinkedIn) is going to make it harder for Sales Directors to justify the higher expense of Oracle, SAP or Saleforce.com

Meet George Jetson!!!…The Future of Transportation

An Article By, Evan Leonard, President

The Jetsons originated in 1962 and was to take place in 2062, 100 years into the future.

I am fortunate to be a member of a group called YPO. YPO is an international organization of Presidents that concentrate on bettering their professional life, family and self. As part of our education series, I sat in on a three-hour presentation with question and answers concerning the future of transportation. We had a renowned speaker a subject matter expert in transportation and digital transformation. He talked about the disruption to the industry and how could affect our lives. I would mention the speakers name but that falls under YPO confidentiality, you will have to take me at my word. The purpose of my article is to educate the reader around this topic but more importantly to be thought provoking so you can correlate it to your industry. The question you need to ask, how you are preparing for the digital transformation. Is your industry ripe for disruption and are you prepared? Read the next few paragraphs, as I believe you will be amazed how the disruption effects more than transportation. For this article, I am pointing out the changes to vehicles on the road. Although companies are already working on “flying cars.”

Microsoft Build 2017: Microsoft AI-Amplifying Human Ingenuity

Used With Permission From: Microsoft Next Blog

An Article By: Harry Shum

A few years ago, it was hard to think of a commonly used technology tool that used AI.

In a few years, it will be hard to imagine any technology that doesn’t tap into the power of AI.

Thanks to the convergence of three major forces — increased computing power in the cloud, powerful algorithms that run on deep neural networks and access to massive amounts of data — we’re finally able to realize the dream of AI.

AI now has the potential to disrupt every single vertical industry, like banking or retail, and every single business process, from sales and marketing to HR and recruiting.

Along the way, AI also promises to amplify our endless reserves of human ingenuity — to augment our capabilities as people and help us be more productive.

The mainstream popularity of AI is new, but Microsoft’s investment in AI isn’t. We’ve been creating the building blocks for the current wave of AI breakthroughs for more than two decades, through groundbreaking research in areas such as machine learning, speech recognition, and computer vision and image recognition.

Tracking Microsoft and the Future of Computing

An Article By, David Tan, Chief Technology Officer

For all the change that has happened in the tech industry in the last few years, there is no denying that Microsoft is still one of the industry leaders and a company that helps set the direction of computing for the broad majority of people and businesses.  In the 3 years since Satya Nadella has taken over as CEO the company has become much more innovative and creative, and returned to its roots as a true pioneer.  That’s why I always think it’s worthwhile to check in on them from time to time and see what some of the products or services they are delivering can tell us about the direction we are headed.  I think some of the things I’ve seen recently speak volumes and are worth talking about. read more
