The Company

With more than 20 years of experience and over 1,000 office relocations throughout the New York metro area, UMC Moving Inc. provides professional, integrated solutions for all relocation needs. Founded in 1992 in a small warehouse in Astoria, Queens; UMC Moving Inc. now owns two warehouses totaling 75,000 square feet with a modern fleet of trucks, vans, and tractor-trailers. With an emphasis on stability and dedication, the UMC staff understands the importance of moving you from point A to point B with little or no downtime.

The Challenge

UMC Moving Inc. was hosting their network on an outdated small-business server running Windows Server 2003. All UMC workstations were running the outdated Windows XP operating system as well as Exchange and Office 2003 software. Since Microsoft ended support for all-of-the-above on April 9th 2014, UMC Moving Inc. and its dedicated staff were left facing various risks to its internal security & workflow management. For a company whose reputation relies on time management, their current network infrastructure was no longer a viable option.

The Solution

After discussion with the client, CHIPS provided a detailed proposal for upgrades & replacement with a goal-oriented project plan. First thing we had to do was upgrade their server from Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2012. After the server was upgraded, CHIPS replaced all Windows XP workstations with Windows 7 and deployed them to each user. Finally, we provided UMC Moving Inc. with an integrated, cloud-based Microsoft Office 365 solution to replace their unsupported Microsoft Exchange 2003 software.
