From working in an office, to now remote, the adjustment can be difficult to maintain responsibilities and complete projects on time. For some, it’s an easy transition, for others it can take some time to find out what works and what doesn’t. With the uncertainty of how long the COVID-19 pandemic will be, we can only prepare for what we feel may be a long-term shift.

At CHIPS, being a pioneer in enabling remote work has allowed us to come up with a well-receptive game plan when it comes to ensuring that the shift in remote working pays off and all employees continue to work as efficient as working in an office.

The right way to work remote

Create a workspace
Find yourself a dedicated workspace that’s something other than your kitchen table. Think about it, working at the kitchen table may sound like a good idea at first, but there are many distractions likely to come.

Keep Communication
Now that you’re not offices away from your colleagues and supervisors, it’s essential to keep as much interaction you need to feel connected. Set time to meet with your team members regularly to ensure everyone is on track with their tasks. And utilize video for this!

Stick to a schedule
With some organizations allowing flexible schedules when it comes to working remote, it’s important to stay on a schedule to have clear guidelines for projects and deadlines. Give yourself a lunch break to avoid burnout too!

Shower and get dressed
Just like you’re getting ready to impress those in the office for that big meeting, get up and put yourself together. You’re mind and body will get out of relaxing mode and into work mode.

Know when to sign off
This can be one of the most difficult parts of working remotely since after hours emails and messages can come in. Just know when it’s time to sign off, it’s time to sign off.
